We, Pam and Ash Holmes, will be leading the team of volunteers making the arrangements for MOT 2009 and hope that for next years' MOT there will be even more people offering to contribute by organising events on what we are sure will be an enjoyable rally. It will be the 27th MOT. The Vendee is an area full of interesting and entertaining things to do and lots of contrasts. Along the coast there are broad sandy beaches with all the commercial entertainment of the seaside. There are also attractive sand dunes, areas of ornithological interest and vast areas of 'marais' (salt marshes) from which salt is naturally obtained. Inland there are lots of cycle tracks wending through attractive countryside and around large lakes. There are castles, chateaux, windmills and even small wineries to visit. |

| The site is in a
very rural area about 20 minutes drive from the coast, the very quite
village of Saint-Julien-des-Landes is a couple of kilometres down the
road but the nearest supermarket and petrol station are in Coex, about
10 minutes drive. |
| We are making arrangements for accommodation in which to hold our social and fundraising events, including an auction and quiz night. The charities to benefit from the funding raising in 2009 will be Leuka and the British Heart Foundation. |
|
The owners of La
Garangeoire have chalets and mobile homes for rental; this does
not include the channel crossing. Several tour operators have accommodation on the site and they will offer a package deal, including ferry crossings. They include: Keycamp, Eurocamp, Canvas Holidays and Thomson/Holland International. |
